Aspire 2 Purity

The Aspire experience on Saturday 1 November 2008 at the Elim Church in Dundonald, Northern Ireland, was an inspiration to many women from start to finish.
We would like to thank the team of women from many Elim churches for their help and support throughout the weekend, especially our hosts Phil and Lynn Hills for the welcome and hospitality afforded to us.
Marilyn Glass gave everyone a heart felt welcome on behalf of the Aspire team and the Dundonald Church, God’s presence was felt strongly among us with wonderful corporate praise and worship and song item ministered to us both morning and afternoon.
Margaret Peat from Glasgow was our speaker in the main morning session, teaching and equipping us on Aspire to purity in mind centring her thoughts on the title ‘Live Well… Laugh Often… Love Much’
Our minds are often full of stuff buzzing around us like ‘Flies of dissatisfaction, wasps of stress’ with negative feelings, invisible chains, barriers to God’s presence and bugs of immaturity. Proverbs 18:21 tells us that the tongue does have the power of life and death and if we use our tongues to praise God it could change our lives because…
Praise increases our happiness, our health, our sanity, our victory, our awareness and our maturity.
It is not so much what happens to us that is important, but how we respond to it. We are what we respond to – nothing more – nothing less. It is good to praise the Lord.
Lynda Heron from Northampton and Lianne Ferrett from St Albans spoke to girls age 14-24 in a youth seminar about the importance of purity. Lianne shared her own personal journey about how she learned that it’s vital to live God’s way and not stumble into sin through peer & social pressures though they seem inescapable God has given us a way of escape. Lynda then taught and encouraged the girls with the theme ‘One Day Your Prince Will Come’
In the afternoon Marion Meyers from Exeter delivered a heartfelt message from God’s word on why Satan dislikes women and the reasons for his attempted death threats over the callings, gifts and aspirations of women. God has placed within us the ability to fight back. As we fight for our children so we can fight for all that God has purposed for us to carry and give birth to.
Many women responded to Marion’s call and came forward for prayer to enable them to step out in faith and not retreat to a life of confinement and fear.
